Upgrade Your Thinking for Discontinuous Improvement
If you want to achieve more with your business, you could:
- Work harder, even though you are already working very hard and your competitors are fully equipped to raise their activity rates, too;
- Practice continuous improvement, moving in ever-decreasing steps towards an ideal of perfection which might not make sense any more;
- Take on some of those growth plans you had previously avoided because they were so risky;
OR, you could make a breakthrough.
Discontinuous Improvement is possible, and it is usually faster, easier and lower risk than you first think. It requires both a set of techniques and, crucially, an understanding of the psychological biases we all share which result in us missing opportunities for breakthrough results, overestimating the risk or making things harder than they need to.
Consultant and speaker Alastair Dryburgh specialises in helping businesses find opportunities for discontinuous improvement. He is the author of the forthcoming book Everything You Know About Business Is Wrong: How to Unstick Your Thinking and Upgrade Your Rules of Thumb (Headline, publication date 4 August 2011).
Topics include Everything You Know About Business is Wrong, Be Distinct or Be Extinct, and Become a Master of Discontinuous Improvement. Lengths can range from a 30 minute speech to a half day workshop.
At the end of a speech or workshop, you will feel smarter, more resourceful, with a better idea of how the world works and a stronger ability to find effective actions.
